Flower Power for Valentine’s Day

These classic flowering plants will show a lot of love on Valentine’s Day with their long-lasting blooming power. (Potted plants will whisper “I love you” long after cut flowers will.) These beautiful plants are sure to score a few points with your sweetie.

 

Florist Azalea: Azalea’s paper-like flowers in red, pink or white make beautiful Valentine’s Day gifts that symbolize love, passion, and caring. They offer a long-lasting alternative to cut flowers, too. From potted plants to trained topiaries, their vibrant blooms provide lasting displays of affection. For best results, keep azalea plants in cool temperatures (50 – 65 degrees), bright indirect light, and consistent moisture. ‘Azaleas’ represent caring for others, passion, and abundance.

Phalaenopsis Orchid: Exotic, Phalaenopsis flowers float like butterflies on long stems… high above paddle-like, medium green leaves. Once budding or blooming, this plant is very low maintenance. Simply water once every 7-10 days. It’s easy to say “I love you” with flowers that can bloom for up to three months.

Since Cyclamen thrives in cooler temperatures, place it next to a window (Leaves shouldn’t touch the the glass.), or keep it in the coolest room of the house. The flowers range from red to pink, violet, light lilac and bright white. In general, Cyclamen represents creativity, charm, devotion or empathy.

For best results, Place Gerbera daisies in a combination of bright indirect, light and moderate temperatures.
