When summer days whisper a transition from summer into autumn, it’s time to replace those tropical pink hibiscus with a moody, fall palette for our outdoor containers and decor.
This autumn color scheme for 2025 is inspired by the photo above. The design features a high contrast combination of creamy-white mums, dark green pumpkins, green- and white striped gourds, and dusty terracotta or black pottery. As daylight fades, the white elements will glow at dusk among the shadows of the dark green, warty pumpkins and dinosaur kale. The black containers will almost disappear.
As Halloween draws closer, you can add an air of mystery by gradually allowing a few black ravens to gather on porch railings. White mums in hanging baskets can be replaced by fiery cauldrons. That’s the spirit!
